There will be some danceable bands playing as ususal, but this year we also have a dedicated swing dance event!
Hague Hoppers co-organise the swing dance evening together with Jazz Festival Delft. Amazing Royal Croquettes will play two sets, Hague Hoppers dance school will provide a lindy hop workshop and performances, DJs will spin swing and blues music for us.
Program for the evening:
18.00-19.15 Warm-up with the Streed Parade! Papa Dre band will travel through the Delft centre, recreating the atmosphere of New Orleans second line. A New Orleans second line is a traditional street parade led by a live brass band (the “first line”), with community members and joyful revelers dancing right behind them (the “second line”). Rooted in historic African-American social aid and pleasure club traditions, it is a vibrant celebration of life, community, and resilience.
19.15 – 20.00 Lindy Hop taster workshop for absolute beginners. Learn some steps before the band starts playing!
20.15 – 21.00 – First set of the Royal Croquettes
21.00-21.30 – DJ set with performances from the Hague Hoppers
21.30-22.15 Second set of the Royal Croquettes
22.15-23.30 – DJ set swing music
23.30-00.30 – DJ set blues music
