St. Louis Shag, or as Tommy Russo famously put it, “back in the days we just called it Shag”, is a lesser-known swing dance that was popular in the St. Louis area during the 1930s and 40s. It shares a lot of similarities with both Collegiate Shag and Charleston, making it easy to mix in with other swing dances, while still having its own distinct feel.
