We are happy to invite a couple who made it to the high places at the International Lindy Hop Competitions – Elif and Vural! Watch the videos!
Elif and Vural, they met through their university’s jazz dance association, KUDANS Swing and started to explore the world of lindy hop, solo jazz and the broader jazz community in both local and international scenes. Since then, they have performed together at many events, attended different festivals in different cities, and competed in competitions at different levels. For them, jazz dance is more than just a hobby but rather an opportunity to express themselves, appreciate the culture, and be creative with each other, as well as with the dancers they meet on and off the dance floor.
From Elif and Vural:
In the workshop, we thought we could try to step outside the fixed patterns in Lindy Hop. We’ll play with elements like the “rock step” exploring different rhythms, shapes, and variations while keeping the connection, and we’ll look at how to use the moves we already know without thinking strictly in 6-counts or 8-counts, but instead flowing with the music. We’ll start with a short combo built around these ideas and then work on applying these concepts in our social dancing.
