Slow bal workshops with Natalia Rueda

Would you like to try a new jazz dance style performed to slow, elegant, romantic music? Some say it’s closer to Balboa; others find more similarities with slow Lindy Hop. Make your own opinion! This is your chance to learn Slow Bal from an international teacher, performer and competitor, Natalia Rueda!
The first workshop will be for beginners, so no previous dance experience is needed. The second class will be a natural follow-up to the first, but enough of a stand-alone so that people who already know Slow Bal can do just that one. We encourage you to do both. It’s always nice to go over the basics, and Natalia will layer the class so that everyone, no matter their level of experience, has something to work on.
ATTENTION: We ask you to subscribe as ‘any role’ dancer, but you will need to choose your role at the beginning of the workshop. If you have a strong preference for taking one dance role (leader or follower), please specify in notes.

About the teacher: Natalia Rueda was born and raised in Colombia, spent her teens and twenties in Canada, and is now happily based in the Netherlands.

Natalia fell in love with Balboa in the spring of 2005 in Ottawa, Canada—an instant connection she still calls “love at first dance.” Mentored by second-generation Balboa dancers from California, USA, she quickly progressed from enthusiast to local instructor, earning her first Canadian Balboa Champion title in 2010. Over two decades as an instructor and coach, she has shared her passion for Balboa across North and Central America, Europe, and Asia. Blending Colombian folk roots with training in ballet, swing, and jazz, Natalia is known for her expressive, technically refined style and warm, energising approach to teaching.
