December 17 Wednesday 19.00-20.30 | Katie Cobalt and Mike Sonder | Air steps! Katie and Mike love them, and want you to learn them safely so that you will also love them and not get injured. This workshop is for intermediate dancers who are new to flying and also for experienced folks who want to train their fundamentals. You will need to register with a partner(s) and we will not be rotating in class, we will also not be match making in class. | ||
20.30-22.00 | Katie Cobalt | Lindy Hop is a Black dance and as guests in this culture it’s important and fascinating to look back and see those who came before us. In this talk we will be looking at some vintage clips and I will share stories about the people who created this dance and culture we all love. December 23 19,30-20,30 | Special guest teachers: Beyond the Patterns – Lindy Hop workshop with Elif and Vural | Elif and Vural Elif and Vural have performed together at many events, attended different festivals in different cities, and competed in competitions at different levels. | From Elif and Vural: In the workshop, we thought we could try to step outside the fixed patterns in Lindy Hop. We’ll play with elements like the “rock step” exploring different rhythms, shapes, and variations while keeping the connection, and we’ll look at how to use the moves we already know without thinking strictly in 6-counts or 8-counts, but instead flowing with the music. We’ll start with a short combo built around these ideas and then work on applying these concepts in our social dancing. | |
