For them, jazz dance is more than just a hobby but rather an opportunity to express themselves, appreciate the culture, and be creative with each other, as well as with the dancers they meet on and off the dance floor. From Elif and Vural: In the workshop, we thought we could try to step outside the fixed patterns in Lindy Hop. We’ll play with elements like the “rock step” exploring different rhythms, shapes, and variations while keeping the connection, and we’ll look at how to use the moves we already know without thinking strictly in 6-counts or 8-counts, but instead flowing with the music. We’ll start with a short combo built around these ideas and then work on applying these concepts in our social dancing. | |
